This double-storey tiled roof had reached the point where age was starting to show. Cracked ridge cappings, missing pointing, and a handful of broken tiles had left the roof vulnerable to leaks, while the overall finish had faded and dulled over the years. The problem was cracked ridges and a tired, faded finish

Up close, the ridge cappings told the real story. The cement pointing between the ridge tiles had cracked and, in places, crumbled away completely, leaving open gaps along the roofline. One ridge section had slipped out of place entirely and needed to be rebuilt from scratch. Scattered tiles across both the older and newer sections of the roof were cracked or broken, and several had slipped on the flashing. Left unaddressed, gaps like these are exactly where water finds its way into the roof structure during Highveld summer storms.

The SealAll solution: rebuild, waterproof, repaint

The crew worked through the roof section by section:

1. Prep and rebuild – Loose, cracked cement was raked out of the ridge joints and the slipped ridge section was fully rebuilt using the existing tiles on site. Broken and slipped tiles were replaced and resealed.
2. Prime and waterproof the ridges – The prepped ridge substrate was primed, then sealed using a Stretch Seal ridge waterproofing system, an elastomeric membrane built to flex with the roof rather than crack again under thermal movement.
3. Wash and prep the full roof – Every section of tile, old and new, was pressure-washed and cleaned back to a sound, dust-free surface ready to hold a fresh coating.
4. Two-coat roof repaint – The entire roof, including both the newer sections and the original tile roof over the main structure, was coated in two coats of a high-quality roof paint in a slate finish, chosen to match and unify the different roof sections into one consistent look.

The result: a sealed, uniform slate-grey roof

The finished roof reads as one cohesive surface rather than a patchwork of old and new sections. Every ridge is sealed and flexible, the previously cracked and slipped tiles are secure, and a fresh slate-grey coating has replaced the faded, uneven tone across the whole roof.
